I have a JD450C that is leaking hydraulic oil out of the transmission. Looking under the back of the machine it drips off of the right final housing. I assume the dozer is cracked because this one hasn't been all welded up like some I had looked at. It's always leaked since I bought it. I've put about 400 hrs on it and it loses about 2 gallons of oil a day when used. It also drips when not used but not near as much ( I assume because the oil is not as hot). Anyone had experience with this? How hard is it to repair or any idea on how much it will cost to have it repaired? I would like to fix it because I figure it will only get worse.

Thanks!!!

Is it leaking between the steering clutch housing and the transmission case or between the final drive and the steering clutch housing ?? to repair the latter, remove the final drive assembly and replace the seal between the housings and clean the machined surfaces very well and reseal with "plastic gasket"...not silicone or anything else....if its between the clutch housing and transmission case, that requires quite a bit more disassembly...the cases are bolted together and there are o-rings between the two
