OK i BOUGHT A 1976 CASE 450 CRAWLER Dozer for my son to use on property , it has been running very dependably until recently he called said after running a while if you stop and let set still if will not move again , shut down 15-20 minutes later start and move.

I drove up here to help him we changed all filters , the suction screen I did find gear teeth but dozer still moves fine like before so not sure if that is previous problem already fixed and just didn't clean screen???? again start dozer it moves fine climb straight up on 12x12 blocks no problem but park for a few minutes while we talk and it will not move???? I'd think if trans hyd pump on side of motor was bad it would not move at all and that is what baffles me.

What else do I check next?

any help would be appreciated

What's the gauges saying I think there was two one for the trans and one for the torque, check to see the pick up line to the pump is not leaking or squashed, finding gear teeth is not good,it's odd how it regains prime and works, leave the filler cap loose in case the breathers are blocked.

they like to spring a leak on the suction line going to the charge pump little stones rub holes in the steel line or they just get a rust hole when oil is cold it is thicker and will suck . have him park with the front down and the rear up high have had 4 of them and all did it changed over to hyd. hose instead of the steel lines pain in the a-- to change. bought to for cheep and that was the problem with both

The hose leading to the suction line filter had collapsed inside of my 1967 Case 450: the inside layer had peeled off and feed back into itself. The outside looked alright. Only reason I found it was because there was pieces of rubber in the suction filter. Then I followed the metal line out the other side of the suction line filter and found another collapsed hose (about 5 inches long) on that line where it connects to the transmission. Replaced both and repaired a leak on the little hose to the pressure gauge on the dash. Dozer moves reliably now.
