case 480b claw on rear bucket

,

Are you asking about a thumb that mounts on the dipper above the bucket, or a grapple that would mount in place of a bucket?

Thumb is pictured on the Deere, grapple is the other pic. Which one are you wanting info about?

Are you asking about a thumb or grapple? The dipper is the outer stick of the hoe and used with both, so does not answer the question.

(quoted from post at 10:10:27 12/16/22) Top one. Thanks

The top picture is of a THUMB, that is the common name, so people understand what you are looking at and asking about.

Are you looking at a specific brand or thinking of building your own? Mechanical (like the one in the picture) or hydraulic (has a cylinder built into the thumb rather than a solid brace, needs a control valve and hydraulic source) operated? If you are looking at a prebuilt one of either type, most manufacturers of the thumb attachment have how to measure for size and mounting information on their websites. The base for the thumbs generally welds on to the backhoe's dipper stick. Web search for backhoe or mini excavator thumb attachment and you will find printed info from manufacturers and videos people have made.

They need to be matched to the bucket as far as thumb length and position on the dipper. Angle it meets the bucket lip at can be changed some by changing the brace pin position or by adjusting the hydraulic cylinder.

I built a bolt on mechanical thumb for a Case 580SE. Made it so it could be pinned in position to use with the bucket. When not in use, it could be pinned up out of the way or unbolted when done with it for a spell. Thought I had a picture of it but can't find it right now. It was use to tear down and load an old house/
