How do you remove the engine on one of these? Actually was just trying to remove the oil pan but apparently that can't be done. Do you just remove the bolts at the back mounting plate? If you do that what problems do you encounter with the torque convertor?

I've never pulled an engine in one of these loaders. As a matter of principle with bell housings and torque converters there will be a choice of two options. If there is an access plate on the bell housing where you can reach the bolts for the torque converter you can undo them and push the converter back slightly and the engine is free to pull. If there is no access to unbolt the converter, it has to come with the engine unless there is a large ring gear connection that slips apart when the engine separates from the bell housing. If the converter comes along you must be careful, upon reassembly, to align the slots on the converter neck to the drive tabs that propel the transmission oil pump. Don't tighten the bolts holding the engine to the bell housing until the two slip together with ease all the way. Using guide studs is a good idea as you don't want to damage the seal that slips around the converter neck.

Will agree with your general statements on torque convertors.
Engine is stuck so those torque convertor bolts are not accessible. Either need to remove pan or is it possible the torque convertor is driven by a spline. Because of the clearance issues would sure like to hear from someone who has dealt with this machine.

If you would only be able to access a parts manual for one of those machines you would have the answer. A guy that would likely know is 'AC Mel' on the Allis unofficial site. If you find him you could probably send him a PM.
