Seeing the pictures of the entire crawler now. Is the tag you are looking at the one on the side of the loader frame? If so that is for the loader attachment, not the crawler. I believe the crawler ID tag is visible at the bottom of the left side arm rest panel, right where you climb up to the operator's station.

sorry its the loader tag,,[/quote]

The tag for the crawler is the one with the serial number you need to ID your crawler. Attachment tags cannot be relied on for ID as they can be swapped around and or added later. Also, they are generally not tracked to a year in public lists. Sometimes a dealer can get the year, but the serial numbers, not year, are generally used to track changes made during production runs.

Using the list on the site AJ gave you the link to:

3061601 was the first serial number of 1976 production. 3063701 was the first serial number of 1977 production. They list a range of the serial numbers for each year, not individual serial numbers. Your serial number 3061781 falls between the two, so it is a 1976 machine.

The only number that looks in question to me is what you called a 6 originally, to me it looks like it is a 5. The 7 and 8 are correct. If it is a 5 (3051781) your machine is a 1973. Close examination is required. Take a sheet of white paper and try doing a rubbing if you can't tell for sure.

I might be the only one but I can't see any of your pictures unless I highlight the https string separate from the brackets for image and search for it. When you are loading pictures do you scroll down a bit, from where you are adding text, to the area that says Upload Photos/Videos, then use the Choose Files button to import the photo you want to attach? Also, you don't need to use the image brackets when you use that button, the program does that for you.

I cropped the view I posted from your earlier picture of the "full Plate". I enlarged it and clarified it to make the numbers stand out better. I think 3051781 is the number. I can see a flag at the top of what originally was thought to be a 6 and the shape is like the 5 in 450 above it. If the 7 was a 2 it would be rounded, not flat, at the top and the scratching/discoloration at the bottom does not appear to be a horizontal flag. Sorry but I don't see that this picture changes a thing, in fact the 5 and 7 look a bit clearer to me. Serial number 3051781, it is a 1973 machine.
