D3 transmission fluid

Caterpillars D3b I nave no clue what type fluid to put in the transmission. Not the hydraulic fluid but the transmission connected to the engine.

Caterpillar now recommends a TO4 spec transmission oil--which is what i use in my D3B power shift transmission and wet steering clutches

30W engine oil also works great

If it comes from caterpillar it would say TDTO-30w on the pail

o doubt you're up to date on what Caterpillar have on their shelves today, which is good... the old Cat manuals from the 70's just say 30W engine oil, same as for the Cat engines at the time, as long as the ambient temperature was in the right range.
