Looking at a Case 800 terratrac dozer.I
know my way around the cat dozers having
worked on them for a living. Was looking
online for info on this old girl and
couldnt find much.Specifically looking for
info on how the machine is steered and any
inherent issues with this particular model.
Believe it's a 1958.Thanks in advance.

The Case 800 is a decent crawler.
They were ahead of the rest with there torque converter and
Power shift transmission. Uses a Continental HD277 engine.

It's larger brother the case 1000 shares some of the same parts
And parts are no better for them either. It uses the Continental JD 282 engine.

The problem is engine Parts and crawler parts almost impossible to find.

The model was made from 1957 to 1959 so not many out there.

The transmission is a automotive type automatic with Clutch packs and bands.

It uses a Hi/Low two speed lever on the floor that must be shifted with engine off. and a HI/LO for each track on the tower along with Fwd/Rev. that is shifted under power.
It has LF/RT Hyd. brake pedals that release the track drive and applies brake for pivot steering.
For power steering you use the HI/LO levers on the tower to speed up one track or the other to turn.
