My 1963 Caterpillar D6B dozer has 2 lines which one come out of the top of the fuel filter housing and one off of the fuel transfer
pump and they go along the frame of the engine and end behind the generator and they are open on the ends. Saw fuel coming out of them
whe dozer running what are they for and what causes fuel to come out of them.

It's been a while since I worked on one of those but check to see if the bleed valve (Knob on the front side of the filter cover) is closed. Best to find Operator's and service manuals for it, if you don't have them.

Those two pipes, one is the drain for the transfer pump when it leaks fuel past the seal on the drive shaft, rather the fuel going into the engine oil it leaks out one of those pipes,the other is the bleed drain,it should not leak when the bleeder screw is closed.

Thanks AJ. I found the vent on the upper champer had vibrated loose. I also changed the filter in the settlement bowl and removed the
bypass spring, plunger, etc, and blew it out with air. Put it all back together and all seems to be fin.

Ran it about an hour and half this afternoon and it ran great, did not see any fuel leaking from either line.

Thanks again. AS you can tell I have limited knowledge of these machines and people who use to know are all about gone around our neck
of the woods.

Thanks again.

Jim;
The bleed knob had vibrated loose. I tightened it, then changed the small filter in the settlement bowl and removed and cleaned the
bypass spring and plunger and blew some air up in the hole where the spring and plunger were removed from.

Just finished running it for over an hour and it ran great and saw no kikeage from those lines.

Thanks for your help.
