My 1010 has a cracked anterior transaxle. Is that a big job to remove and repair? Will the weld hold up if its done properly' Purchased a 1010 crawler loader from my friend a few years ago that i was going to use for parts. Installed a carb kit and got it running after it was sitting for about 15 years. Got the steering clutches and brakes working, reverser seems strong minimal wear on the rails , no dents in the bushings, about 4 inches of adjustment left on the side frame, so now I have another $1500 toy.

This sounds like you might be talking about the final drive housing. Here is a link to the JD 1010 parts catalog. Click on Axle Shaft and see if the part you are asking about is there. If not, you can search other pages to find it.

If it is the final drive housing, depending where and how it is cracked some have welded those.
