Does anyone have a fix for the worn out Hi/Low trans shifter lever , as the slot in it and the key is worn out and it wont push the fork far enough forward to get it in gear as it wont go all the way in grinds and jumps out do they sell just the new lever handle with the slot in it and a new key. has anyone maybe found good fix repair?

Could you drill a hole and put a dowel pin in? or weld it up and have a machine shop cut a new slot?

well the dealer said no new ones available so they said they could get a good used one for $100 but with no guarantee ?? I said no way I allready have a worn one .....so I put it back together with a new woodruff key but before I did that I laid the shaft on the anvil and gentley tapped on both sides of the slot and moved the metal closer on both sides and with a new woodfruff key it was tight again so I put a new seal in the shaft also. And since my problem was that when I tried to put the range lever forward it would not stay in and jump out now it seems to go all the way in..as before it would not . The thing is It was sitting long time and I just got the motor runnimg and I had to move it into the shop so I did drive it just a short distance and I had it with the lever pulled back as it would not stay in when I pushed it forward so was I driving it in low or high with the lever back? So when you push forward is that high or low? which is which ?

I have not got everything including gas tank and steereing back on it yet. all I can say is I am putting it in Low when I find out which way is which and locking it in with a cable so nobody can try to use high ..there is no way you need that on a backhoe There should have been a lock out for the thing anyways...who in the world needs high on a backhoe? if you cant do it in low range then dont do it . I had a John Deere that when I tried to put it in High it would push the thing out of gear so no one would get killed I think it was 1940 B
