Power steering issue Case 66-71 580 CK

So I have no idea about why the power steering is not working as it was sitting in a barn for many years ....so I changed the filter at the
pump and put red trans fluid ..I think dextron .....and I still dont have any power steering ....I ran it and moved steering back and forth
to try to get rid of any air but nothing...I now have the loader bucket pushed down and got the front wheels up as high as I can get it to
try to bleed the front steering cylinders ...So does it take 2 people to bleed the air like in the brakes on a vehicle ? 1 person to turn the
steering wheel while its running and the other person to bleed it ? Does anyone here done it enough to really know the correct way? thanks

As with most hydraulic systems there is no need to physically bleed the steering cylinders.

Here is the procedure from a 580B manual. I would expect the same type of info is in your Case 580 service manual.

Jim so what exacty is this TCH fluid compared to Auto trans fluid? And why does there other post here I read about saying I need to have the front cylinders up as high as I can get it to help bleed it? does anyone know if the TCH fluid is thinner as maybe the trans fluid is not getting through the filter as it is a small filter and I dont see many holes and I really think they could have put a bigger filter in to start with...with more holes as its really cheap and undersized ...I know the original fiters worked but still I think it does not give the system much surface area to get through ...its n bigger than a donut. Either way is this TCH fluid thinner that the Dexron trans fluid? I have some bobcat fluid that looks like a thinner viscosity I might try if I cant figure out what TCH is ? I looked at tractor suppy and did not see it?

You need to post about this problem on either this forum or the Case forum, not both. mEl and I have both given you some info about this on the Case Forum, I didn't take time to post it again here (as I did with my earlier post). You going to have two posts going for the same thing, best to read both before asking questions on one, you may already have some answers.

Ok I guess your right as since its a backhoe I should post just under the backhoe . thanks for advise ....wisdom
