John Deere 555G warning light

Looking to purchase a JD 555G. The unit I am looking at has the triangular light with exclamation point indicator light illuminated . Current owner says it has something to do with the alternator even though the unit is charging. He says he has been using the unit with the light on and that it is not a big deal. The unit operates great and seems totally sound. The only issue is the indicator light that stays on. Can someone with JD555G experience help me assess whether this indicator light is a greater concern than the owner seemed to think it was?

Operator's manual has a diamond with exclamation point, meaning is Service Required. Here is what it says about the indicator.

The most common cause of this I have seen with the G series is the transmission filter being restricted. Earlier serial number machines have the filter under the floorboard and the sensor is very sensitive. This is one of the few times I would advise using only a JD filter. Most others (Wix, Fram, etc) will make the light come on right out of the box. Be sure to check all of the wiring to the various sensors as well.
