Does anyone happen to know that the remote filter element and O ring part numbers are for a ALLISON TT2421-1 transmission in a 1988 Dynahoe 490 Backhoe. It's not a spin on but would
like to convert it if anyone has the numbers for that. I have the Dynahoe parts book but those numbers go no where. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this is a very common remote filter assembly used in many different machines using this ALLISON TT2421-1 transmission. Allison doesn't go back that far anymore and the dealers are too young to remember or find any info on them. Even the rebuilders only handle the transmissions and nothing on the filters. The filter companies want a part number. I really would like to have the filter and O ring ready to put in when I take the filter housing apart because previous experience has taught me never to do this because it may come out in pieces and no part numbers can be seen on the filter and I would be down for the count until I could cobble something together. I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone could supply on this! Thanks!

Here is the product spec page from the Wix catalog for the 51136 jth suggested. It shows dimensions for the filter and the different gaskets, which should give you an idea if it is what you have and if one of the packaged gaskets is right or if it might be one of the ones you have to order.

This is perfect! I looked up the filter and found it on Napa for $16. Cheap enough. Not having taken it down, it's going to be interesting to see how the canister works.
The bottom of the canister has a large hex stamped into the bottom. It is part of the canister not an external nut. I thought it would be a place to grab the canister and twist it off with a long threaded rod inside that was part of the filter head. Now, since there is a small washer included it might be that there is a long bolt that is loose inside the filter that goes down the length of the canister. I'll have to check the top of the filter head to see if there is a hex for a bolt. There is very little room between the top of the filter and the floor above it. Might have to get a wrench on that hex and use a large wrench on the bottom to spin it off. It may just be a variation of a standard canister filter.
I was also surprised to see that the filter has a Nominal Micron rating of 32. I was expecting to see a filter in the 5 or 6 Micron rating. That may be for the newer transmissions with much finer tolerances for the servos and other parts inside. It would be great if you have any info on a spin on filter kit. I came across a few that were in the $500 to $900 range and that was way to expensive for me considering that the oil/filter change is probably in the 500 to 800 hour range. I'll let you know how I make out. I hope to get some time over the 4th to take a look at it.

Have you checked with Joseph Industries? There is a Dynahoe Owners private group on Facebook.

Tried Joseph Industries and the Dynahoe Group. They had nothing on my 1988 Dynahoe 490.

The Wix number is 51136 going by my books it is the canister filter . I will keep looking to see if I can come up with a spin on conversion. The 51136 comes with two gaskets for the filter cover plus one for the bolt , they do have other size gaskets listed but they have to be ordered separately. Hope this helps you out

Thank you for this filter number! I'll go out and measure the canister to see if it will fit. I imagine that this filter and gasket set will fit many applications.
The Dynahoe is new to me so tracking down parts has been a real treat!
