Need help with International dresser 175c

I have pulled the wires out of the back of my alternator on my newly bought international dresser 175c track loader and am needing help wiring it back up. I tried hooking the black wire back up but no luck with it.

24 volt? How much have you run it since you pulled the wires out, given the dust build up on the back it looks like it has been a while.

There should be a heavy gauge (12 or 10 gauge) wire (with battery voltage on it all the time) connected to the terminal on the right, with the red insulator. That should be the alternator output terminal. It looks like that may be the only wire missing. The one loose end you have showing in your picture does not look right for that position. Are there more loose wires not shown in your picture?

Yes that is correct 24 volt, I ran it and then noticed it when the battery was dead one morning when I went to crank and found that the wires had been pulled out of the alternator.I have not found a heavy gauge wire anywhere.

What is going on inside the boot the arrow points at? It looks like a heavy wire into the boot run to a lighter wire on the alternator. I am guessing the boot and heavy wire belong on the terminal with the red insulator. The boot would have been keeping dust off the terminal. Does that wire have power on it? When the wires tore off something may have shorted out. Clean the dust off the back of the alternator and see if there are any markings around the terminals and where the plug goes in. Bear in mind color of a wire does not always signify whether it is power or ground. A black wire can be power or red and be ground. Test to find out.
