Can I interchange parts between a 4.236 and a A1004.4t engine? This is in regards to a JCB 1400b backhoe. Same bell housing and same cylinder size.

With out comparing parts books,it will be very hard to say.There are too many variations of the same engines

The crankshafts are the same but little else. I have been involved with these engines for over 40 years in Manitou fork lift trucks and telescopic handlers and had very little trouble with Perkins engines. MJ.

JCB used that engine (A1004) in the 3CX site master so should fit yours, I fitted a lot of engines in my career and even getting them from the factory I always had to change something.
