Hello everyone. I have been working on diesels over 40 years and have rebuild at least 100 but it has been 20 years since I touched a 2 stroke detroit. I have a 3-53 in an old Dynahoe that lost power and died as if it ran out of fuel, but it didn't. Doesnt even attempt to start even with ether, and just some white smoke. Having experience with 53s a billion years ago
I checked Blower flap and it was open. Having experience with these 53s a billion years ago I checked fuel return line for flow and it was good. Pulled the blower air horn and checked that the lobes turn while cranking and they do so the drive is good. Pulled rocker cover and injector rack is free and all the rockers and pushrods are operating as they should. This engine should run. I havent pulled the hand hole covers off to inspect the pistons but can't imagine all 3 cylinders losing compression at the same time, it didn't run hot and was running g pretty decent that day it died.
Anyone ?
