I replaced the track adjuster seals for my D6c 10k series cat but after installation it wouldnt push the track at all! Grease pushing out of the flange where its bolted together. Dont know what I did wrong.Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Was it leaking between the flanges before you resealed it?, leaking between the two flanges means the seal there is not holding or there is something between the two flanges not allowing them to close, there should be the seal and an anti-extrusion ring in the cylinder side you did replace them?, you will have to split the flange to see what's wrong, you have tightened the two valves, though if they leak the grease comes out of the drain holes.

Yes, was leaking from between the flanges before the new seals and
o- rings were installed. There were two rings on the piston that
looked like the same size rings , but in the new set of seals, there
was only one ring , so I replaced the one ring that I thought was the
most important ring on the piston.

We always replace all the seals that come in the kit, there is one seal and an anti-extrusion ring that seals the cylinder to the front flange like in the picture, if you replaced those have a good look at the flanges for cracks or damage that could cause a leak there.

Thanks AJ for the clear picture. The wear rings in the picture, there
was only one in the kit that I got from caterpillar. Is it necessary to
have two new wear rings? Grease pushed out both #1and#2seals!

If 1&2 got pushed out then the bite on them was not enough, make sure the flanges are clean and not damaged, tighten the bolts X ways to ensure the flanges marry up evenly, the wear rings are to stop the piston from contacting the cylinder, I always thought there were two so give the parts man the serial #, they do not hold the pressure, the front seal is directional and must go the right way around with the groove facing the snap ring.

I almost like the old manual type better. When the threads strip you can tighten with a portapower and make shims. With the grease type you are screwed. Tracks need to be tightened VERY infrequently.
