Rear end differential out of a case -davis trencher

does anyone know how to get the differential out of the case on a case davis trencher? I pop the pinion into and
can't get the rings gear and other gears out,

I never worked on a trencher but on a car or truck you have to pull the axles out first.

Need a case spreader. The tool fits into the holes provided in the case, on each side of the opening.

It appears to be a DANA 44 axle, and while having the spreader tool at hand is helpful untold numbers of them have been worked on without the tool.

Gotta wonder, tho, what you mean by "I pop the pinion into"????? WHAT the heck?

I got an old cable (that was buried in the ground where I was digging)wrap around the driveshaft. It wraps so hard
that it did a clean break on the pinion where it goes into the rear end housing. now got to get a new ring gear and
pinion.

Keep track of shims on outsides of cups. That sets back lash and preload on brgs .
