I cannot get the splined shaft to come out of the track clutch pack.
One side came out fine other side will not move. Been soaking with
penetrating oil. Have clip out of shaft but nothing help!

I am probably 100% wrong as its over fifty years ago since I had the pleasure of those clutches but I seem to think the shaft was pushed into the ring gear carrier till it cleared the clutch and then the clutch was lifted out, but as I said I'm not sure.

You have to take the bolts out on the outer side too. I have an HD3 and have the same problem, couldnt get the shaft to slide in on one side. I reassembled it and lived with one side steering. I intended to tear into it again but since then I have been dealing with St 4 cancer for the last 2 years and havent been able to tackle any extra projects. I intended to remove the access cover from the side of the clutch housing casing and try to line up an opening in the sprocket so maybe a crowbar or long enough pipe could be used to hit inward on the shaft from outside. Not sure if this idea would even work. Good luck , report back if we can help more.

I got it out... Kroil penetrating oil was the key. Spline was very dry. I will not put it back together that way!!
