Hi can anyone tell me the procedure for getting my 344 Buda with a Bosch PSB pump to top dead center? Im interested in removing the pump to be sent out for repair. Im having a new seal kit installed .

That pump does not time at TDC, the pump hub mark should be more like 25-35 degrees Before TDC but check the service manual first. There should be an access hole above the pump hub pointer to align the hub mark with. Injection pump also turns ENGINE speed, so when the head gear mark is visible under the side cover, and front hub mark/pointer align pump is on cylinder one injection. If hub mark/pointer align and head gear mark is NOT visible pump is on cylinder four as head turns at 1/2 engine speed like engine camshaft does.

Great! This will be so helpful. Just curious, which model of injection pump do you have on yours? Mine is an American Bosch PSB4A - 100. I'm wondering if different years of HD6Gs had different ones.

Ill have to look tonight . It is a PSB just not sure of the rest ..
I actually just got it up and running well. But I do still want it rebuilt .

High mileage and hundreds of pumps on and off on and off in my career my memory is getting blurred, what I do remember about the HD6 was it is fairly easy to change out the pump, disconnect the battery, remove all the plumbing and throttle connections from the pump, remove the securing nuts, remove the access plate from the front of the timing cover, remove the three bolts holding the gear to the hub, take the plate out of the way put a match mark on the gear and pump hub, do not take the gear out, keep it in mesh leave the gear where it is and lift the pump off the engine, put the pump back on with the marks you made lined up and bolt things up, connect the plumbing and controls, the pump is oil lubricated from the engine so it's a good idea to spin the engine over on stop till the oil pressure shows on the gauge.
