JD 350C Reverser

Reverser oil is going into the rear end, after a couple hours work it will transfer about one and a half gallons of Hy guard in to the rear end. maybe bad seal? how hard to repair?

I am taking it you have an actual C series and are not saying 350C with the C meaning 350 crawler. The straight 350 crawlers seem to get C suffix added to their title, in error, on a regular basis so it is best to clarify what it is up front. If you have a straight 350 crawler or a 350 B series this info won't apply as those had dry steering clutches.

I may be off a bit on this, but I believe you have wet steering clutches, if you have a 350C. The oil and oil pressure to operate the steering is taken from from the reverser system. I think an internally leaking hose or seal in the steering system could put reverser oil into the transmission/differential case, as well as a leaking shaft seal between the two compartments. There are several places a leak could occur. Study the interfaces between the reverser, steering, and transmission/differential in your technical manual (TM1115) and the parts catalog (PC1480).
