H3 dozer steering

I'm having issues with steering on the dozer. When I pull the left lever back, the dozer stops, right track won't keep going. Steering both ways was fine when the dozer
was cold or just started using for the day. Seems to get worse or not work at all when using for a while, like the clutch is slipping on the one side. I was wondering if
there was an adjustment that could be made so that the clutch grabs more and where to adjust it? Thanks for any help, this is a new project my brother and I have started
and both kind of excited about it.

is there an inspection plate on top of the right side that you can remove to see the clutch/brake band.

Not sure, I'll check it out in a couple days though. The dozer is at our cabin now. would it be under where your foot rests or a little bit further back?

If my memory is still alive the adjustment for the clutch is outside on the final drive housing, look at the housing inside the front of the sprocket just below the track chain at about ten/five to on the clock face, there you should see a big nut with bolt like peg sticking out of it, that peg has a hole drilled in it, the nut is a jam nut, to adjust the clutch loosen the jam nut, put a suitable bar in the hole to turn the adjuster and adjust to suit, tighten the jam nut. there is a plate over the clutch to access the brake and clutch.

its under your hyd tank. you will see a smal round cap you can remove to adjust the brake band.if your going to fool with that thing you definitely need a manual. i believe if you look on the outside of the final drive case you will see a large nut like 1 1/2 with . thats your adjustment for the clutch but i suspect you have other problems.

Yes it can have other issues but you need to check the clutch adjustment first, the steering clutch leaves a lot to be desired it is not conventional like the 5's or others, the pressure plate is very much like that of a manual auto but smaller if it has an issue it usually gives warning, if it lost drive suddenly something may have let go, put a long pry bar in the sprocket and check it for play, listen for any noise when you hold the other track, if you hear noise drain the final and check it for metal. good luck.
