360 degrees hitachi 60 travels too fast

First I have never used an excavator of any
description!.... is there a way of making a 360
degree hitachi 60 excavator travel slower as it
struggles going up hill ..if the operator tilts bucket it
does improve things thanks for all replies

There are several models of the 60 all I have come across has two speed tracking, the early models had a switch on the floor behind the left foot that the operator used his heel to press to change the speed, the newer models had a switch on the dash with a tortoise and hare for fast and slow, if it got the heel switch on the floor see the boot is on it and the switch is returning as that switch often sticks.

Not familiar with Hitachi, but am a heavy equipment operator by trade. Like has been said there is usually a button or switch. Near it is a picture of a track with a rabbit and turtle. On some of our newer smaller Cat excavators at work the button is located on top of the blade handle. Took me a while the first time to find it ! Holding the bucket open after it is open all the way is working the hydraulic system. Would happen with any maxed out hydraulic function. Engine rpms will decrease and machine will move slower. But should not have more tracking power.

Yep there are lots of versions of the 60 from the early UH's to the Zaris and as far as I know they all had two speed tracking, I had EX60-1 with the switch on the floor,it had to be pressed down and held down for high, like was said above it can stick down keeping the travel in high, determine what machine you have it may have a number like EX60-1, the dash after the sixty is important ie -1, -2, -3 etc
