Thanks and update HD3 Allis

Forum,
Thanks for advice on advancing timing on the HD3 Allis.
Attempted to start the engine but to no avail. Figured out the priming pump is functioning. It seems as someone mentioned a clogged fuel line. I believe there is/was "stuff" in the tank having a hard time making its way through the fuel line built into the bottom of the tank. Poor design could have been a raised filter in the tank! Next I removed the very snug cast steel injectors. Last option for removal was to remove the studs and give a light tap on each ear and proceed to pry. Always applied Power Blaster as I worked. One of the injectors seemed to be partially functioning. Injectors are now at the diesel shop in St. Cloud for cleaning. Price varied from $30 to 90 per injector depending on parts needed. Nozzles were expensive. Any and all thoughts are welcome.

So sorry to hear of your ongoing trouble with the fuel system. I have heard from several sources that the Minnesota diesel fuel is less than helpful as it apparently has enough bio-diesel in the mix to cause problems in systems that aren't used regularly. In the part of the country where I live we haven't had that sort of fuel problem and I hope it doesn't make its way here as I have several machines that don't turn over for long stretches of time.

If you have advanced timing that will make starting
more difficult, I always thought retarding diesel
timing for better starting.. on old David brown
tractors there's a screw on pump which makes
tractor start straight away by retarding but runs
rough until screw is turned back I am sure diesel
tech will confirm or dismiss these details soon
I have old sawbench with petter ph1 engine which
starts and runs better with 200-1 ratio red universal
2 stroke oil in fuel ... and is hand crank start
