Case 350 radiator leak

Hey guys, the adventure with the old dozer continues. I had a
leak in the rad, brought it to the local radiator repair shop.
They did their Thing and charged me a pretty penny. I put the
rad back in and it leaked again within a matter of minutes.
Brought it back to the shop and buddy tries to tell me
something is wrong with my engine, that the thermostat
wasnt opening properly and hammering the radiator. He
fixed it again, I put it in again with a new thermostat and of
course leaking once more. Does anyone have any experience
with this? Is the core just old and at the end of its life? If a
new radiator wasnt and arm and a leg I would just buy a new
one. How about the radiator getting hammered by the engine?
Sounds like a story.

Where is it leaking?

Does it leak with the cap loose?

Just looked up the part# R34163 YIKES! No wonder you don't want to replace it.

I am glad mine doesn't leak...Knock on wood

The radiator shop that does the repairs for us tests the radiator after repair to ensure it's will stand up to service, has yours leaked again in the same place or is it a new leak, if we took in a rad and the core was rotten they would replace the core which is much cheaper that getting a new rad, maybe you should try another shop.

A new radiator is the same cost as a mortgage payment for the month! Its pretty crazy. The radiator leaks at the same spot where the tech fixed it twice now. Cap on or cap off. I got a quote for core replacement at 1200cad. We radiator after shipping and import fees will be 2000cad. This is my dilema now. Id hate to spend that money on the old rad if it develops issues again 6 months down the road. The thing Im wondering is with the little story the tech told me about the engine hammering the rad(I think he was bullshitting me). I have never heard of an engine doing that to a radiator, have any of you ?

In my neck of the woods when a tube in a rad is leaking the procedure is remove the top and bottom tank and block off the damaged tube, it will never leak again because the coolant is not going through it, the tanks are put back on and the rad ports blocked and then tested by pumping it up with air to a set pressure submerge it in a tank of water and check for air bubbles, paint and return to customer, if your rad was repaired from the outside which it appears it was and not tested either like I said before find another shop.

Just recently went through a similar problem with my JD 450C crawler. new rad is close to $2K and it's not easy to get to to replace.

I heard about [researched] a product called K Seal that was touted to fix leaks quick and permanent.

Normally prefer mechanical fixes to these kinds of pour in repairs but decided to try it. Was surprised at how well it worked. I'm running the unit now with no leaks or problems. Unless I was replacing or recoring an old radiator , I see this as the way to go. It is just too iffy to be plugging and soldering old brittle tubes.
