Hydraulics quit working on my industrial JD300. Can anyone tell me where the dipstick is if there is one? I think I add fluid large cap behind the seat? Also if one if these two trans/hydraulic is ok to use? Thanks for any help!!

The dipstick (cap looks like a knurled pipe cap) is on the side of the transmission, at the rear of the right running board. You check it with the dipstick unscrewed and just setting on the top of the pipe.

The big cap behind the seat is where you add the fluid.

John Deere J20C is the current spec the fluid should meet. J20A would have been the spec when the 300 was new I believe so that should be ok as well. I use fluids meeting J20C. Do Not use an oil/fluid that only says it is 303.

This and several other things have to be checked regularly. You should get an operator's manual for it, at a minimum, to help you maintain your machine. John Deere publication number is OMT42365, I believe when equipped with a loader and hoe.

If it quit working suddenly check the drive coupling between the dampener pully hub and hydraulic pump.
