JD MC Oil Type for Hyd Cylinder

Hello,
I am not having any luck finding the type of oil that goes in the reservoir for the hydraulic cylinder that lifts the blade?
The manuals don't seem to list it or I am looking wrong.
Thanks for any help

My guess would have been they originally used 10 or 20 wt engine oil at that time it was built,, later ATF was the norm and of todays oil I would think you would be fine with JD hyd oil,, Hy-Guard, but this is just a educated guess

Good guess.

Don't know what manuals you have to look at but here is the page from the MC Operator's manual with lubrication info.

10W was called for at the time, Hy-gard, or an equivalent, will be fine. Also see your post on the John Deere Forum to get a free copy of the manual.

AW32 or AW48 straight hyd oil, or 10wt or 20wt non-detergent engine oil. They don't like HyGard, tend to howl more, and you lose 100-200psi. Won't hurt anything, but no need to buy HyGard when straight hyd oil is cheaper, and no gain to HyGard vs hyd oil.
