Hello all, I hope I can find some information here. I have a 1999 LMC Trackmaster 85 that has been a great machine for me for many many year. Recently the left track drive started acting up. I was wondering if anyone has any information on what might be the cause. Thank all of you in advance for the help.
John.

OK before you pull the motor check the control as I had problems with other makes that had dampers on the control linkage and when they go weak the valve is engaging and disengaging, yours may not have those dampers but its worth a look.

Check out the drive train, like the track and sprocket, what is happening, is the track jerking, is the sprocket slipping, check the sprocket is tight, is the track worn where it meshes with the sprocket, those are a few things on the outside to check.

Thank you AJ, the sprocket is good, the teeth engage fully into the track and the track is tight. The movement of the drive is sluggish under load. I got a message under the main forum form another Trackmaster owner that leads me to believe that the drive motor is in need of being rebuilt.

Pitfalls of Tractor Engine Rebuilds - by Chris Pratt. The first pop after you have put the machine together with your own hands is exciting and pleasing.
