Does anyone know where I might buy a good 188D engine block for a 450 crawler? Preferably with the head studs still intact.I
bought a used 450 crawler and the block is a mess, someone has heli coiled all the threads in the block and it is cracked between
all the cylinders.I have checked a few salvage yards with no luck. Any and all leads appreciated.

This place has a very good selection of dismantled machines and parts.

They were used in a lot of Case equipment, but they are getting hard to find and the salvage yards want premium prices for them. The cheapest bare block I have found is $1000.00 bucks. Still Looking.

welding man, theres a place called Abilene Machine, they may be able to help you out.

That said, i just bought a 450 case, looks kinda early model, is there anything a person can do to get a non-runner to move easy? hydraulic disconnect? its a powershift machine that i need to get up on my gooseneck. havent gotten a service or operators manual yet, wanted to get it home before i order anything,

The one I bought had been sitting in a shed for 10 years and hadnt been started. we drug it out with a big excavator, raised the
blade up and and blocked the cylinders and pushed it up on the lowboy with the excavator. when I got it home , I pulled it off
with a tractor,no problems. The tracks rolled very easy.

THe cracks don't concern me as much as all the headbolt threads have been stripped and replaced with Heli-coils and who ever did it did a poor job. I have no confidence in getting the proper torque on the head.
