Cat D7 1941

My manual does not tell me how many washers are on the engine clutch pins attached to the flywheel. Was told that there 3 washers closest to
flywheel and 2 washers on drive link. The problem is my parts manual only shows 1 and for the 5 drive links 5. However, the one I took
apart had different number on each drive link. Thank you

You are obviously working on a dry clutch, given the year, this would be a 7M series D7. Do you have the serviceman's reference book for a 7M tractor ? You'll want to read the section on the flywheel clutch. When removing these, I would take note of the quantity of washers on each side.

From a War Department Technical Manual TM5-3098 covering tractor numbers 7M5828 and 4T1 and UP:

Before installing the drive links on the pins, place enough washers on the pins to just keep the drive plate from contacting the front pressure plate when the clutch is released. Add washers on the opposite side of the link to fill the space between the cotter pin and the link.

There's another thing to be aware of on this assembly and I can't find which manual it is stated in, but there was something about axial and radial alignment, it's not stated in the clutch section of the S.R.B. so maybe I'm confused on it. I know the engine is shimmed to align, might be if you lost the shim count and have to re-align after taking an engine out.
