JD 350c Winch Control Cable Replacement

I can see, touch and move end of cable under seat where it attaches to winch but have not figured out how best to get old cable and spring off of there not to mention the new one back on. To tight in there to get tools on it or see back side where spring attaches. Is there a trick to it or do I need to take it loose from the bottom? I can't really tell how much room I have to work with from bottom side as the belly pan is in the way. Just hoping someone out there has replaced this cable and can advise me on the best approach before I go too far in the wrong direction with it. Thanks.

Just looked in winch section of shop manual, no mention of cable removal or install. No working room for sure. Might be best just to remove winch from crawler, not that difficult with a hoist. That's how I replaced the one on my 350B maybe 25 years ago, as best as I remember.

You are correct. After your advice I looked at how winch is attached to dozer. Enough bolts, studs and nuts to start a hardware store and it opened up the next question of which ones actually hold the winch. So i stopped by a talked to the Service Manager at JD place nearby and he confirmed your advice as well as what Needed to be loosened to remove it. Got parts on order should be here next week. However, not having a good hoist set up I've elected to get a local field mechanic to come out and do the repair. Thanks for your reply it put me on the right road. I've also found a place that specializes in all types of cables called Bunker Hill Cables, Millersburg, Ohio. They are a fraction the cost of the Deere cable in my case.
