I’m looking for a small dozer to grade roads push out small piles, something I can move on my tandem flatbed truck or a big trailer behind my one ton.
I found an early 90s Hitachi D4M dozer. I know it’s a grey machine from Japan. The engine seems ok (not sure what engine it is - very little information online) Hydraulics are responsive 6 way blade. Mechanical transmission I guess 3 forward and 3 reverse (no shuttle). No leaks.
Undercarriage is getting on but that I’m pretty sure I can fine aftermarket replacements.
The concern I have is the steering clutches. The left side seems fine but the right is pretty hard to turn. I’ve gone on line and see I can get the replacement clutch parts. How big a job is it to do this and is there an adjustment for these or some kind of self adherent that eventually bottoms out ( where it is now).
Any other problems I should look out for? Or any good place to go online for information about them?
Thanks, Grant.
