Help me out. I have a late 70’s early 80’s 350 case dozer. Has
a newer crate motor maybe 200 hrs . Was running used it a
few times this year. I had to change to fuel filters once due to
junk from the tank. Last time it was running i noticed it leaking
some oil. So loaded on the trailer to troubleshoot as my trailer
has a lower center so it would be easier to get under. I found
the issue it was a small hole in the oil filter from a line coming
loose. I only lost maybe a quart or two of oil. I replace the filter
and changed the oil. I can not get it to start not even with a
sniff of starting fluid. Today I cleaned the fuel tank flushed all
the junk out. Flushed the line and changed the fuel filters
again. Put fresh fuel in it and made sure it’s all the way up to
the filter. Put 2 newer batteries in it. I can not get it to start.
Run it’s cranking I and see a little smoke coming out of the
exhaust. I am stumped as it was running when I parked it.
About 3 weeks ago I have messed with it for house and hours
what am I missing here???

If the air system checks out it may be the lack of fuel, loosen each injector pipe nut a couple of turns at the injector, crank the engine over with the throttle on full,(protect your eyes) each injector line should spurt out fuel,if they do tighten them up again and try to start,if the fuel did not spurt out strong it is possible that the metering valve in the injector pump is stuck in the stop position, this can happen if the stop control was left out when the engine was last stopped, the top cover of the pump will have to be removed to put it in the run position,it's good practice to put the stop back to run and the throttle on full when the engine is stopped.
