Hi All,
Last year I bought a Case Davis Fleetline 30+4 trencher that was not quite in as good of shape as the seller indicated (to put it kindly). I've made a lot of repairs/improvements and generally have it running pretty well (although it still burns through oil and leaks hydraulic fluid from just about everywhere), but I'm still not getting the trenching performance I think I should be able to get.
What I'm working on now is the range select control on the drive motor, as I'm thinking I'm stuck in high (travel) and switching to low (work) would probably give me better control. I'm hoping someone here knows a bit more about that and can tell me if the "in" position is work or travel. The label points left/right on a lever that flips up or down to engage/disengage. I was able to break the control lever and cable loose, but the actual switch on the hydraulic motor underneath will wobble back and forth but not actually shift. The Case parts list breaks down to the motor but not inside the motor so I have no way to tell how it works without breaking it open. There doesn't appear to be a service manual for this unit, and no one seems to have operating manuals either. I've found posts of people mentioning this problem, but no one mentioning a solution or any details on which state is which. I'm hoping someone here can help.
FYI, I know people are selling copies of the parts manual for the later version of this trencher on eBay, but that's available for free on Case's website. Here's the one for the version I have (apparently the Super Trencher):
<Removing all the links because I'm assuming that's preventing the post from going through. Will try again later or come up with another solution.>
Thanks,
Beo
