Does anyone know anything about these grey market komatsu D30A's? It has a problem with not turning right and is now stuck in between gears and won't shift. They seem to be nonexistent and hard to find any kind of manual and parts for it.

Grey market machines are machines that are sold outside the makers normal distributors and are the same as their siblings apart from the markings, decals etc,the clutch is hydraulically assisted as is the steering clutches and brakes, the first thing I would do is ensure there is oil in all the components that should have oil,if the oil is ok then I would adjust the steering clutches and brakes (clutches first) if the main clutch goes low on oil it will not disengage when the pedal is pressed and the steering clutch will not release so no steering, the inertia brake on the output of the clutch should stop the shaft when the pedal is pressed, any heavy equipment mechanic will know where things are on a crawler and will be able to guide you,the basic layout is the same on yours as any other crawler.

I was chasing down the brake problems and changed out all of the fluid which was full of water and thats when it stopped shifting, its not a clutch problem as the clutch still engages and disengages as it should, the shifter itself is stuck like its wedged between reverse and neutral i dont know how else to explain what it is doing. Its my grandpas bulldozer and I told him we would both regret buying it since I would be the one stuck working on it. Its a good machine when its running good but a pain to work on.

That sounds like there is an issue with the shift lever end has come out of the selectors,if the lever does not want to move don't force it,there is a plate on the side of the selector box housing that can be removed, below is a link to a Komatsu parts site where you can look up the parts list of that machine, type the model in the search box D30AM-17 and click search, new page with two D30's,click the top one and then the plus sign on the left, the main components of the machine are listed, click Main clutch and transmission, look above the middle column and you will see Order PDF manual click on it and a new page opens from there you can download a shop manual, operators or parts $99 each.
Good luck

Thank you, when I got there after work I got it all worked out, someone had pulled the shifter at some point and didn't set it back in right. Got the new fluid through it and adjusted the brakes and its all good now. Just have to see what he breaks next.

Glad you got it sorted, there is a lot of talk about grey market machines, the only difference I found and I am in the repair business is the markings, sometimes the serial number don't tally up to the official listings making the machine none existing, yours looks like you can get any part you will need, lovely little dozer they are but as you said not easy to work on,they don't give much trouble as long as they get a bit of care.
Good luck
