JD 410 Part

My uncle is looking at a late 70's/early 80's John Deere 410 backhoe, one of the front spindles is messed up and the owner tried to drill a hole through it and was going to put a bolt through it but when he hit the hardened metal that idea stopped quick!! Deere only wants $854 for the spindle, does anyone on here know of a good used one or might have one for sale? I think there is a serial number break for that part and will have to get the number off the backhoe, wanted to first see if any was left out there, parts for these old machines are getting hard to find. He wants to check on parts and price before he makes the owner an offer on it.

A quick eBay search for John Deere 410 spindle turns up some, at least 2 different part numbers, for an idea of prices. Yes, there is a serial number break. So it is likely there are some more out there, if you know which one is needed. A salvage yard will need to know which one as well.

Your general location might get some responses of salvage yards or other possibilities near you.

Deere had a field repair for worn out spindles and steering knuckles... Industrial strength liquid steel... Yep , you heard me.. Liquid steel.. The repair kit consisted of a caulking tube and a 2 part epoxy supplied by Deere.. Once while working at a Ford New Holland dealership, we tried a product called Bellzona .. A swing post bushing wore out the cast post and a new bushing was loose in the bore.. One of the guys there cemented it in with Bellzona , and to this day , [ 30 years later ] it's still holding in there..
