This is the right hand stabilizer valve. When you pull the lever it pushes the valve straight down. It feels funny doesn't just stop. Feels like something is under it. It does work slowly. Stabilizer comes up slowly. Other side banges up quickly. Looking at valves seems they have to come out the top. Anybody know how they come out?

Screw holding centering spring may have backed out of the spool. There should be a cap, held on by a couple screws, on the bottom of the valve body opposite the lever end. Remove the cap and check that before pulling the valve apart. Also depending on the temperature where you are located I have seen water freeze in those caps and prevent full movement of a valve spool.

The two stablizer valves are in front of
the bank of control valves. There is no
can on the bottom of these two valves.
Seems they have to come out the top. Maybe
I'm not seeing it right. Thanks anyway

You are right. I finally got the dirt and
grease kinda blown away. There is about a
1" cap screwed on directly in line with
control valve. I thought the hyd line was
directly in line. But I was looking wrong.
But looks like will be easier to take
backhoe off than to try to take it out
from top or bottom. Thanks Vic

The valve has has a hollow cap that screws up into the body, inside the the cap is a spring that keeps the valve centered, the spring and spacers are held on to the valve with a snap ring,in order to pull the valve up the snap ring would have to be removed.if there is room the valve may pull down, the snap ring may have come off,the spring broke or as said above ice, there is an o'ring both top and bottom, look at the parts drawing on line and you will see the setup.

Thanks for helping. I finally got valve off. Had to make a 1-1/8 crows foot 3/4 drive took 2 3/4 extensions a 3/4 ratchet and a baseball bat cheater pipe. All I have found is rust in bottom of the cap. Doesn't take much to restrict valve movement.
