580 SE wheel bearings

using the advise from this forum a while back, I found I had a bad outer wheel bearing on my backhoe. when I removed the axle, the axle nut at bull gear was finger tight. still had the cotter key going through it. anyway, I replaced the outer bearing and seal on the axle. my welding rod heater worked great to warm the bearing. the inner bearing looked perfect. anyway i'm curious how tight the axle nut needs to be on reassembly. I plan on snugging the axle nut up to seat the bearings, but not sure how much preload I should have if any. thanks for the help.

Tighten the nut till it seats, turn the shaft several times and retighten the nut, give the center of the axle shaft a gentle tap with a heavy hammer, tighten the nut again to the nearest hole for for the cotter pin,now tighten it to the next hole and lock it up.
Good luck
AJ
