I'm a glutton for punishment

I've always wanted to have a dozer to play with. I've been around and worked on antique tractors enough to know full well it makes NO financial sense, but I'm retired and needed a Winter project anyway.

I also know that dozers are world-class money pits. I'm going to chalk the cost of fixing this one up as "entertainment expenses". Also prepared for spending a lot of time scrounging up parts.

This one should run with a tuneup, needs transmission work (thought to be a bearing out) and the left front idler wheel is flopping a bit so probably a bearing and/or shaft there.

I'll no doubt be back from time to time for advice, commiseration or parts search.

First thing you might as well do is register at JD Cralwers.com. http://www.jdcrawlers.com/messageboard/index.php Lavoy Wilcox and the boys are the absolute experts on them. Then get the right shop manuals. And yeah, a couple of pallets of money would be a big help! Have fun with it!

I've got the mate to yours in pieces in the shop right now. I hope to get it together this winter.

Pretty good chance that you are going to find the pork chop wallowed out on the front idler. The axle is supposed to be fixed in it,but is usually spun in there. The axle can be welded up and turned back down, and usually the pork chop can be bushed.A few thousandths of crookedness can be gotten away with there.

I have an OC-4 Oliver I rebuilt. Cost me mucho $$$$$$$$ to rebuild. However, the things are handier than a shirt pocket and will do a surprising amount of work for their size. Once you've had it around a year or so, you will never regret one penny of it.

Hey at least your playing with a small one. I've been working on a IH TD15B/175B and when it is up and running would pick up both the trailer and crawler you have one that trailer and not even notice it was there
