Allis Chalmers 653 Dozer Sprockets

Does anyone manufacture brand new replacement sprockets for Allis Chalmers 653 Dozer? I keep landing on worn out HD sprockets that don t align with track rail because the sprocket is not beveled. Thanks

(quoted from post at 23:57:30 05/12/19) what about using weld-in sprocket inserts, if they still make'em?

I have not found a supplier of inserts. I do have someone suggesting they can cut the tooth profile off a different machine that could be welded to my sprockets after I cut my teeth away. That s on the back burner but still on the stove.

You can try Pigeon Products & Manufacturing. The phone number I found on line is 701-463-2959. Email try [email protected] . No personal knowledge of the company but it appears they make (or did make) sprocket liners.

I actually bought sprocket rings for my Cat---cut the old ring off at the spoke ends and welded the new one on

Henderson Manufacturing in Pittsburg, Texas is one company that makes weld on sprocket rings. 653 isn't listed but it could be worth a call to check.

I always buy the ones from Berco. If they don't list them by application, they will ask you a series of questions to come up with what you need. You will have to do some
homework, such as the pitch, number of teeth, thickness, etc but they will tell you what need to know for when you call back. Then again, they might just have the sprockets you need.

Thanks for all the great inputs and leads. I will research them all. I did find a fabricator that can cut and weld the two sets I have to give me the one set I need for $600. This includes repairing the bolt pattern on one sprocket that fits my dozer properly. They are local so no shipping fees. If it doesn t work and the other leads you provided don t pan out, I will be back on the forum. Thanks!

How worn are the chains? Putting on
new sprockets against a worn chain
may get you going but may cause other
problems if the pitch is off due to
wear. It may try to climb out of the
chains, or bind up and will definatly
accelerate wear on the old chains

Thank you for this advice. I did purchase new rails and pads.
