Does anyone know anything about these machines? Good- Bad or otherwise and approximate value. It is the first one I have ever seen. I have a chance to buy this one from an elderly gentlemen but really don't know what to offer. He says it runs good and works as it should , but it's been sitting about a year.

Does it have the hoe on it, or is it just a loader tractor?
It's a great little machine. I had one for several years.
The weakest spot was the splined shaft and housing holding the backhoe on. Splines would wear and fail, so the hoe swing wouldn't work. It's very easy to see, right there on top.
The auxiliary/power steering pump blew open a couple of times, but was easily replaceable, at least back then.
The tractor part was made in the UK, so had an annoying Lucas starter, and, if I'm remembering correctly, a unique down draft/automotive type carburetor with an accelerator pump. Once we rebuilt the carb, it was fine.
The Delco distributor took domestic parts, except that the goofy plastic tach. drive worm gear would fail, and was not available.

Bob it does have the hoe,and it is a Diesel not a gas. Here is a picture./

running okay I would put the value at around 2500-4000 on hi side. I have a 340 that's is about the same , had it for 10 years. mine is gas with power steering. shuttle valve. the hoe itself is okay but hard to dig in dry clay as it is little short on hoe power. for around the farm its a good little hoe but wont be a money maker at all. being a diesel that may need work might be a problem as there a lot more expensive than a gasser. condition and running ability will dictate the price. honestly if it can not be started to see if it works I would walk away. way to many variables on a non running diesel. good luck

Engine is no concern to me at all. I rebuild engines for a living. An engine kit is cheap. The remainder of the machine is my concern. I've got a couple of little projects to do then I will resell it. I bought a 450 Case dozer a while back that had been sitting for 9 years and I had it running and pushing dirt in 2 hours.

I owned one of these for about 10 years. Two hydra pumps (three with 3 pt rockshaft) one American, other (side of engine) British $$$$ to repair. There is a selector valve on the fender to choose power steering or backhoe swing. The unit is a little light in the front even with all the weights if it has a 14 ft hoe, makes loader work a little touchy. Heavy built tractor, good engine, a little under horsepower, agree look at the swing post spline as it is a weak spot and $$$$$ to repair. Biggest negatives- brakes or lack there of, too small and glaze over- hoe can not lift rear of tractor off the ground for positioning when digging.

Thanks for the input from everyone, Machine is about 75 miles from where I live. My son is brokering the deal. I will get him to have a closer look. We will see what happens.
