can anyone help me out i have got a fiat 505c and the manual says it has 8 gears 6 forward and 2 reverse but i can only find 4 3 forward 1 reverse does anyone know how to select the rest of the gears

If the memory is still intact there are two levers, one the longest has three forward and one reverse the other the range lever is for high and low, that will give you the six forwards and two reverse and is very common on most farm tractors.

i would of thought there would be another lever for high and
low but there isn?t. i have tried all the levers but none of them
are for high low range. i found this photo on the internet
showing the shift pattern it?s from a fiat but i?m not sure if it?s
the same model crawler. my lever doesn?t seem to be able to
do that pattern unless there is to much slop in the lever and
it?s not allowing me to access the other gears

Sorry Dan my mistake it has only the one lever and it controls the gear and Hi & Lo I am completely muddled now as I can't remember how it worked,it would be my guess it would be from side to side, there are a few other Fiat owners on here that might be able to help or maybe you speak Italian the page below covers it in Italian.

Dan the FIRST thing to do is see if in fact you can find the TWO reverses , that is the key. If in fact you find that say you are in the one next to the seat, hold the shift back and try to go straight across all the way to the right, at that point see if there is a gear moving the lever forward, then pull it straight back HOLDING it hard to the right. Have seen some transmissions shift just like the pattern shown. Not saying I know yours has it but sure takes some practice to shift, much like a 77 Oliver tractor
