Case 580 seems to slip in and out of gear

I have a Case 580 construction king TLB with the gear shift on the right hand console. I tried moving some snowbanks today and it seems to shift in and out of gear.
However if i raise or lower the bucket at certain points the tractor will start moving again. I checked the oil on the dipstick in the floor behind the seat (in front of
the backhoe controls) and that level is where it should be. I assume the tranny fluid is low but am not sure where to check it. Is there a panel or something under the
vinyl flooring or another tube somewhere were i can check the level and top it up?

All 580 BHL's were named Construction King,by what you describe I think you got a 580K series 2 or a 580SK,the oil filler that you describe is the only one in those machines, they have the Carraro transaxle,is the actual shift lever jumping out of gear or is it staying put and the machine stops,I will guess it stays put and the machine stops this can be caused by the clutch cutout disengaging,a fault in the wiring and as there is a button on the loader lever it would account for that, there is no connection whatsoever between the oil for the power train and the hydraulics even though it's the same Case TCH oil, take out fuse for the clutch cutout,(I think it's the second fuse down middle row) and see what happens,if you have the hand book have a look,if it turns out that the linkage has come adrift be careful not to let the interlock under the shift lever loose as it has loose parts that can fall out should the shift rods be removed from the levers going into the transmission,

AJ yeah you right it jumps out of gear but the shifter stays in place. I will check
the fuses tomorrow.

With the shifter staying in place and the loader lever having effect it is likely that the button switch or the wiring has an issue on that lever, see the button is returning,if the boot around the switch is missing dirt can get in causing it to jam,if you do have to change the switch here's a tip for you count how many turns it takes to undo it,attach the wires to the new one and turn it anticlock the same numbers of turns so it will end up with the wires twisted then when it's screwed in the wires will be untwisted and have no strain on them.
