Case 310g vs 350 crawler

What are the main differences? They appear to be nearly identical and was wondering if parts would interchange?

Here's the progress I've made on mine after less than 2 weeks of tinkering

Got it running good after a bent pushrod was discovered, It is smoking badly and oil fouling the plugs so this weeks task are to put valve seals in and fix a transmission leak. All fluids have been flushed and changed, most gaskets replaced, all ignition parts replaced, carburetor rebuilt, all new wire harness, new seat/arm rest and lots of cleaning

Bob, a 310 always had just a dry clutch and 3 speeds fwd one rev, the 350 is the same machine but they added a torque convertor and power shuttle, this gives you 3 fwd and 3 rev speeds, I have both a 310F and a 350 along with other Case crawlers,,

Thanks for the replies! I cant wait to put the little machine to work around the house. For only being 40 hp and under 9000 lbs it seems to be strong for its size but I feel that the slick triple bar street pads will be its downfall. The previous owner told me that there was a spare set of tracks for it somewhere around his property but a quick search didn't turn up any. I did find a 310 dozer attachment so that was a plus. I hope to find a used set of rails and grouser pads for a decent price but if nothing else I'll buy a few sticks of grouser material, some rods and start welding.

Those street pads get just as much traction in most conditions and more in many,, they turn FAR easier with them with a loader reducing unneeded steering band wear(reason they are std on them in all brands),, I have used them with both pad styles for over 50 years,, I would Never change out the street pads I have on my 350, use it and see if you are in pure mud all the time you might see a need I guess,, I hear this comment a lot from those who have never used them, on ice snow concrete pavement or any hard surface they get at least twice the traction of a grozer pad,, one place they do not shine is on steel loading ramps,,

Bob I know its your machine but I had one at one time. one reason I sold it was because it had grouser pads which can destroy final drives. it is a nice little machine but those finals are not that heavy and as you already know parts are hard to come by. they definitely will tear your ground up. just me experience with them. having said that its always the owners decision. good luck on your nice looking crawler.

I'm going to see how it does before I make any decisions on the pads, what is the weak link on their final drives? If they are a problem area I would like to stock up on parts when I find them.

bob the final drives if you make sure it stays full of oil and operate it like it should then you will be fine. the oil is the important thing so it keeps the bearings lubricated. hardest thing on them is the jerking motion on the drive gears. People some times thinks they are indestructible but they are if not operated right. that little crawler should last you a long time . sometimes we get a little toy and over use it. human nature I guess as have done it my self. I asked a fellow who has around 25 of them from the Kansas city area if they made reverser for them. He said they did not. To bad cause if it did it would really be a SWEET machine. I really don't know of any bad things that goes bad on them except if there over operated enjoy it. nice little machine.

Thanks for the knowledge pinball, I'm a heavy equipment operator by trade and know by no means that it's a 963. Hopefully I can keep that in my head while I'm piddling around with it :D

that's good to hear. I see so many people tear those old machines up due to the lack of knowledge. I know I have done it. that machine you have is one of the better looking one I have seen. I sold mine to a fellow in kc that has a passion for those 310s. he has over 25 of them. don't think he is much on selling , just collecting them. I know he ha a standing order with zimmermans to buy any they get in. don't think theres much in common with the 350s though. You are sure enjoying it. that's the best thing of all.
