John Deere 350-B Crawler

More info may help. Is this a machine you have had for a time or one you just got? Dozer or loader? Does it do this going forward when pushing/loaded, unloaded, or both? Did this just start or has it been this way and getting worse for a while? Have you looked to see if the steering clutches/brakes are oil contaminated? Have you adjusted the steering clutches and brakes by the book? Does it have a reverser? Does it have power steering? Does it push all right and will it spin the tracks? Does the foot brake work? Have all the oil levels been checked and are correct.

Is this a machine you have had for a time or one you just got? It has been sitting for about 5 years
Dozer or loader? Loader
Does it do this going forward when pushing/loaded, unloaded, or both? Reverse works great, turns on a dime. Only going forward both
Did this just start or has it been this way and getting worse for a while? Slowly getting worse. I'm am amateur at this but I do have the book on it.
Have you looked to see if the steering clutches/brakes are oil contaminated? No, but it's a starting place and appreciate your info.
Have you adjusted the steering clutches and brakes by the book? No, but it's another starting point.
Does it have a reverser? Yes, a pretty neat part.
Does it have power steering? Not sure about power steering.
Does it push all right and will it spin the tracks? Pushes great and yes it I get up against something the tracks will turn.
Does the foot brake work? Yes brake works.
Have all the oil levels been checked and are correct. Another starting point. Do you know of a check off list? Does everything run off the same oil reservoir?

I really appreciate the information.

If it has the power steering option it will have two small hydraulic cylinders under the seat that the linkages from the steering levers hook to.

Power steering oil has its own pump and reservoir. The reverser uses the transmission/reverser as a reservoir. The loader hydraulics use the tank under the right arm rest as the reservoir.

You said "It has been sitting for about 5 years". I take that to mean you owned it, parked it, and it has been setting for about 5 years. Did it have signs of this problem before you parked it?

Power Steering? Attached pictures of what's under the seat.
Thanks again for your input.

Looks like power steering cylinders. By the parts book there should be a pump and reservoir similar to one on a car mounted on the engine to supply them.

You have the correct technical manual for your 350B. In it, if the pages are all there, you should find the adjustment procedures for the steering clutches/brakes (section 60) and the reverser lever linkage (section 50). Two places to start checking.

For your questions on lubrication, service and adjustments you will find the Operator's Manual more useful. Those have the details on where to check, how often and what to use. You need John Deere publication # OMT46859 for your 350B operator's manual. You can order one on line at http://www.johndeeretechinfo.com , format of your choice from print to download. It doesn't appear that the store at this site has it, a straight 350 is a different manual.

You can access parts manuals on-line for free at https://jdparts.deere.com/servlet/c...ountrySelected&country=US&language=19 . The parts catalog for the 350B crawler is PC1169 and the parts catalog for the loader on it is PC1209.
