I just bought a 340 dozer with 6 way blade. May need injector or more, blade works but lets back down soon as you release the handle, steers on one side. Worth anything?

I have one of those. Gas with a Drott 4n1.

Big question is - how is the undercarriage? That really determines its value. New uc is obsolete, and very un-available.

Fun machines! Cute as a button!

If you post a picture of the track, would help. Otherwise I do have measurements for the tracks, if you need them - have to find them, first, lol!

Well I paid for it but have not got it home for a pic. I believe it may get by with an injector, I thought I would start with the engine before I spent time on anything else. If the motor needs much I don't know if I will repair it or salvage. I would like to have it to use around here some.

Elton, At 75 years of age I have been around IH for years, Dad was an Ih dealer back in those times and I hung around the shop. That T340 was just about the most worthless little crawler ever built but los of the reason was folks tried to get too much work out of them. Folks had had the old td9 crawlers which were heavier built and then updated to the t 340s. They were fine for spreading gravel or grading dirt but not much on clearing fence rows or trees of any size. Steer clutches are prone to go, along with the hydraulic reverser. Some parts are awful hard to find . Good luck and hope you get it going. Seems to me (been years) there was two versions one with a 3 cylinder then one latter with the 4 cyl diesel engine. My e mail is open I might have your injector.

Well, I did not expect much. I have had a 1010 Deere so I know I ain't gonna do more than play. It is the 4 cyl. I may wind up parting it. I have a buddy that has the loader, possibly like yours, with a bad engine, but his is gas.

Please see attached - here are the specs for the UC.

The skid steer pretty much supplants the small dozer.
In the 50's, no skid steers - one has to consider old technology, in perspective of the era in which it was produced. I would not say a T340 is a bad machine - for its time (1958) and size class (<10,000 lbs). Would be quite silly to compare it to a machine from the 70's, that weighs 20,000 lbs.

Small dozers are fun - and expensive, lol.

Best of luck with yours - there is fair demand for used parts, so worse case it lives on being part of other machines!

Thanks. I may get it home this week or next month, I never get in a hurry anymore. Need to get some old parts tractors broke down but this wet weather takes the motivation away.

Personally I think there good little dozers if you use them for what there suppose to be used for. only problem like all of those older machines parts are getting hard to find. good luck and hope you have fun with it.
