Evening: Sent the injector pump off as you knew i would have to..:)
shop discovered the ring in side had failed and pieces everywhere, the high pressure side was good
just the governor section needed work other than seals, gaskets as per normal.
All back in place and runs/powered like a good but old machine should be.
The trick of loosening the timing cover..? does that apply to any injector pump, that it would
speed up when loose and slow down when tight.
What was really nice was that they sent extra free sealing washers for the high pressure lines..knowing
i was going to lose 2 of them....:)
Tks for the help

Loosening the cover only applies to DB, DC, JDB, and JDC pumps. If no screwdriver is handy using a 1/2 inch wrench and loosening the side bolt will drop the housing pressure when the fuel leaks there too. Just repaired a JD 4020 pump this week for the same trouble.

Morning: not that i plan or want to get into injector pump service, but maybe i can save someone time and
confusion, as to yes the pump has to come off.
keep your stick on the ice
tks
