TLB 410B tran input shaft

Was looking at the JD parts site, to get an idea about changing a transmission input shaft on a 1985,410B TLB,
has anyone changed this shaft from underneath with the tran's in place? once the drive shaft has been removed, or the tranmission has to be dropped?
hoping for an easy way to solve the problem of a worn spline area.Was hoping the yoke itself was worn....but just not my day.
