International 2504 backhoe loader

I have a 60-70s model 2504 international tractor with Henry loader and a backhoe. Just bought it and it's been setting for years apparently. Doesn't run. I jump it and it cranks slowly, the steering wheel feels like it's turning a gear but the wheels don't move? What's the reservoir inside the loader arm? And also could use a wiring diagram to rewire the ignition switch cause the wires are all stiff and broken. Last of all, what are the levers on the right and left side of the transmission? I believe there isn't any fluid in the tractor at all cause it doesn't steer, when I loaded it up on the trailer we picked the loader up and there wasn't any kind of pressure to hold the loader up

Also forgot to mention it's a 4 cylinder gas engine, I can feel the tranny goes into 6 gears. Probly 5 forward and then reverse. It's not running at the moment. I'm ordering a new carburetor and air cleaner as the one on it was full of junk in the bowl and looked pretty rough. I have cranked it over by connecting jumper cables directly to the battery and made a jumper to the solenoid to engage the starter but it rolls over kinda sluggish. I bought it as the motor was locked up and needed rebuilt. The woman's husband passed so she didn't know much. I got it home and the alternator was froze solid causing the motor to be "locked up." I removed the belt and motor rolls over fine.

First thing to do is make sure all compartments are full of oil,the engine would require 10/30w engine oil the steering and hydraulics would take any good quality HyTrans oil,if its got a power shuttle shift the HyTrans will be fine in that too,if it's a manual transmission it will require gear oil,you had a lucky break that it was the alternator that was frozen and not the engine, for the first start male sure any lights it may have are switched off, hook up two 12 volt batteries in series,go from negative on one battery to positive on the other, connect the jump cable from the positive to the main cable on the tractor, connect the other to the negative on the battery to ground on the hoe and hit start,I take it the plugs and points are clean and it's getting gas,see what happens.

If your lift leaver has a float position,
put it there while you manually lift your
bucket then back before you turn the bucket
loose.

Today I bought a new coil and a coil
plug wire. The old coil was corroded
along with the coil wire. Didn't fire.
Then I ran a wire from the + side of
coil straight to the battery (12v).
Still not firing. When I pull the
distributor cap off, it's clean as a
whistle in there. But I don't see
anything except the rotor bug. How do I
get to the condenser and points?

There should be a dust cover to remove after you have pulled the rotor button off the shaft. The cover may be stuck down but should lift up without too much force. The points and condenser will be under the dust cover.

Thank you. I found the points to be corroded. Used the copper penny trick and got it to fire. Now I have the coil wired directly to 12v. Is the coil suppose to get warm, hot or stay cold while hooked up? I left it hooked up while I ran to the store and came back and the coil almost burned me. All I gotta do now is get the fuel tank cleaned, new fuel line, some hoses and hope my carb cleaning skills work. Is the 2504 gear driven? Noticed the wheel seals leaking and it looks like hydro fluid. Also when I crank the engine in gear, the tractor doesn't try to move in any gears?

In this case the coil got hot because you left it hooked to 12 volts, without the engine running. The points open and close when the engine is running, interrupting the power flow through the coil. Leaving it hooked up while you went to the store was the same as leaving the key on. It sounds like the points were closed when you left it to go to the store. That means the points and coil had power flowing through them the whole time, not good. This will burn the contacts on the points, heat the coil, and run the battery down. Now you likely need to get a new set of points and a condenser.

Some don't like to hear this but, you really should get and read the manuals. Operator's, service/shop, and parts. Those can provide you with the service checks, oils needed, etc. The main details; then questions can round out the info, photos, and diagrams you see in the manuals, check with them. You may be able to get the right manuals through this site. There are several on eBay and others on here may know of other sources. I prefer manufacturer's manuals, or reprints of those, over some of the others like I&T, but I&T will be better than none; my personal preference.
