I had to take the 400 out of its winter home today to pull around to the backyard. A new(to me) 3-16 BH plow. All 3 wheels rolled even with terrible tires. All 3 colter blades spin but are gummed up. The front colter spins but doesn't rotate. It's now soaking in penetrating oil. Lever works and it's free. The plow just needs some hydraulic hoses and case adapters. I think it will work.
What can you tell me about DX16 moldboards? I am unfamiliar with them.
Thanks

Nice find Tod. I plowed with a 3-14 Centennial and DC4 for a few years until we started growing corn for grain. It was a good plow, but couldn't handle cornstalks. Don

Don, I like getting phone calls from guys saying, Hey, you're a Case guy want a plow? It says Case on it. This one was only 65 miles away. The best part is when I have to beg the guy to take something for it, after all, he did use a loader to put it on my trailer. Also, yesterday morning, I put air in all 3 tires, and all are holding air today. The tires are junk, but it has awesome tubes!

As to why no muffler or air intake pipe. I have a door height issue. Both get put back on when parked for the winter.

DX is a general purpose moldboard. Not sure if they were made at the same time as the EX or not. Assuming where you store it, has low clearence and the intake and exhaust stacks need to be removed? As a kid I plowed a lot ground with a 401 and 3-16 centennial with a rope trip/wheel lift. Used to get on and off that tractor in a flash when the plow unhooked on a rock, which was quite frequent in some fields. When dad bought another with a cylinder on it, I only used it a few hours, as it was a pain in the kiester, cleaning the hose ends after falling in the dirt and sometimes had to fight reconnecting them. Rope trip was so much cleaner, simpler. Always used 4th in some heavier ground and 5th if it was a tad lighter.
14.9 38' on it. After a few years it was rebuilt with a set of M & W Jet Black over bore sleeves and pistons and then she would haul 5th most of the time.

Cash4Toys Thanks for the insight on the DX. This plow was offered to me at a really good price. As they say, They ain't making anymore So if you see it buy it. Not all that rocky ground around here, just some clay to trip it. Where was your place? I'm in S.E. Wisconsin/N.E. Illinois.

Grew up in the south metro it's called now, was all country and kind of backwoods then, south of St. Paul, MN. Varied soils from red clay that would be miserable to deal with to blow sand in some areas and everything in between. We had one field where that 401 would struggle with a 2-16 centenial plow.
Whole area is nothing but residential now.
